This painting depicts the different kinds of Bush Tucker Seeds found in outback Australia. Bush Tucker is Australian Native Food & Plants. The seeds are found all over Sandy’s country and are a good source of nutrition for the people of this country.
Well before the arrival of the Europeans, Australian Aboriginal people made extremely good use of naturally available foods found on the land. Living off the land, meant that the Aboriginal people had to make use of what was available at any given time of the year, and generally from within their own tribal areas. This local knowledge includes the best times to harvest the seeds as some can be toxic at certain times throughout the year.
