Annie’s Awely paintings show several groups of women congregated around various ceremonial sites. It is at these ceremonial gatherings that the women, especially the younger ones, are taught the tribal dreamings or rules of life by the elders.

Her paintings show different body designs which are painted on the women. These designs are painted on the chest, breasts and shoulders and are painted as if viewed from an aerial perspective.
